Description
An interpretation of ‘The Dumas’ by G P Maggini, Brescia c.1600
Available sizes: 16”, 16.25”
As a viola maker Maggini is without equal. Contrasting the finesse of the Cremona school, the Brescian instruments of Gasparo da Salo and Maggini are considered cruder in their workmanship. Maggini, however, sought his own style. Virtuoso players demanding the forceful, but romantically dark Brescian sound seek after his instruments.
This outstanding viola is an interpretation of the Maggini’s ‘The Dumas’ (1600). It is ideal for the serious player who is looking for a fine instrument for their higher grade/diploma study and performance work.
